Community Events
Camas Festival 2023 — Saturday, May 20th. Potluck, live music, and guided wildflower walks in the meadows south of town. Bring a dish to share. Setup starts at 9 AM.
Fourth of July Potluck — At the park, starts at noon. No fireworks due to fire restrictions but John Day usually does a show you can see from the ridge.
Library Reading Group — Second Thursday of each month, 7 PM at the library. Open to all. October book: Angle of Repose by Wallace Stegner.
Church Rummage Sale — October 14, 2022. Raised enough to get the roof fixed, which had been needing it for years. Thank you to everyone who donated.
VFD Pancake Breakfast — March 11, 2022 at the fire station. $5 per plate, kids under 10 free.
Grant County Fair — August 2-5 at the fairgrounds in John Day. Livestock entries due July 15. Contact the extension office.
Council Meetings
Community Council meets first Monday of each month at 6:30 in the church fellowship hall. All residents welcome.
Recent minutes:
- Jan 2023 - Discussed CR-18 washout repair timeline, county says spring. Voted to send a letter.
- Dec 2022 - Holiday potluck. No quorum so no official business.
- Nov 2022 - VFD needs new turnout gear, council approved $1,200 from general fund. Library roof leak tabled til spring.
- Oct 2022 - Rummage sale coordination. Speed limit sign on CR-18 still missing, reported again
